FAQs
How do I start my counselling support?
We will offer an initial assessment session to mutually explore what you need and agree any next steps together, there is no obligation to continue.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you require will differ from person to person depending on your current situation and your emotional process. Generally anything up to 12 sessions is short term work. Longer standing deeper issues generally benefit from longer term counselling which we can discuss together as needed. The service takes an individual approach to therapy which aims to meet your individual needs.
Are the sessions face to face or online?
We offer both face to face or online sessions depending on your location and circumstances. (We don’t offer couple therapy online, only face to face)
How often will the sessions take place?
Sessions are weekly in order to establish a therapeutic relationship and to enable therapeutic change to occur. Bi weekly sessions may be available if appropriate and are priced differently.
How long are the sessions?
Adult sessions are 50 minutes, Couple sessions are 60 minutes and child sessions are 45 minutes.
How do I pay?
Session fees are payable by BACS transfer ahead of each session.
How does confidentiality work?
Anything that you discuss in sessions is treated as confidential. There are limits to this confidentiality if there is a serious risk of harm to you or to someone else.
How will I know if I’m ready for counselling?
We have an initial assessment session with every client/parent to discuss your needs, questions and for us both to mutually explore if now is the right time and whether we are the right service for you.
How do I end my counselling?
We will discuss this together and it is ultimately your choice when your support ends, we always encourage an ending session and a planned ending to end our work together.
